Here are some great reasons to use timber frame windows supplied by Youghal Glass.
Multi-layer timber sections with opposing grains to prevent twisting which traditionally have caused timber windows/doors to stick in wet conditions.
Traditionally timber windows and doors have been known to stick in damp and wet conditions due to timber twisting. Modern technique such as the use of multi-layer timber eliminates twisting.
Multi-layer timber is long established for use in wet environments such as swimming pools, marinas etc. Multi-layer timber sections eliminate twisting as the opposing grains even out movement caused by moisture. Multi-layer timber sections are used as standard throughout the Youghal Glass timber window and door range.

The timber window and doors supplied by Youghal Glass require minimal maintenance. Depending on local weather conditions, maintenance should only be required after 5-8 years.
In the factory prior to assembly, a base coat of timber preservative and then a primer coat followed by two coats of micro-porous paint is applied to the timber. All timber products supplied by Youghal Glass receive this protective treatment resulting in hard wearing timber products requiring minimal maintenance.
When maintenance is required there is no sanding down or special treatments required. An average sized window will only take approximately 30 minutes to redecorate.
All timber windows are double-glazed using thermally insulating glass to provide an extremely low U-value. The U-value is further reduced by filling the double glazed unit cavity with argon gas. Low conductivity spacer bars are also used to reduce heat loss at the edges. The result is a 1.0 W/m2K centre pane u-value which results in a 45% increase in energy efficiency compared to standard double glazing units.
Glass is fitted from room side to prohibit would be intruders from gaining entry by removing the glass form the outside. Glass cannot be removed from the outside when it is fitted from the room side.
Misting in double glazed units is a result of the glazed unit sitting in water that has become trapped in the frame.
Drainage and ventilation channels incorporated in Youghal Glass products prevent water being trapped in the frame and resultant misting of the double glazed unit.
In the event of a double glazed unit breakage, all Youghal Glass timber window and door frames can be fitted with replacement units with no damage to the window frame. Repainting is not necessary.
